WORLDDIDAC Basel consolidates its leading position

WORLDDIDAC Basel came to an end after 3 days on 31 October 2008. As the event drew to a close, an excellent mood prevailed amongst the exhibitors, exhibition management and just short of 20,000 professional visitors who had attended from 76 countries. The majority of exhibitors were delighted at the increase in the number of national visitors and at the high-grade, new contacts they were able to forge in their internationally focused business.

A total of 423 exhibitors from 31 countries presented their products and innovations over a surface area of 20,000 m². With 19,618 visitors to WORLDDIDAC Basel 2008, numbers were up 14 percent on the last edition. This notable increase was particularly evident amongst professional visitors from Switzerland. Exhibitors focusing on international dealers and purchasers were also particularly delighted with the way the exhibition went.

Increased share of professional visitors from Switzerland
The effort that the Worlddidac Association and Swiss Exhibition had put into increasing the number of Swiss visitors certainly paid off. The share of professional visitors from Switzerland rose to 81 percent (2006: 72 percent). The remaining visitors were teaching staff from neighbouring countries and international dealers and buyers. With visitors from 76 countries and exhibitors from 31 countries, WORLDDIDAC Basel consolidates its leading position as the most international specialist exhibition in the education sector.

Highlights
The highlights of WORLDDIDAC Basel 2008 included the opening ceremony with Isabelle Chassot, President of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education, and Dr. Christoph Eymann, Basel's Director of Education, as well as the closing ceremony with Doris Leuthard, a member of the Swiss Federal Council. The networking evening for international guests met with a high level of interest, giving those present the opportunity to forge new contacts with education experts from 41 countries in an informal setting.

The next WORLDDIDAC Basel is being held from 27 - 29 October 2010 in the Exhibition Center Basel.
